We booked the Pledwick for a birthday bash and it was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The staff are so friendly and helpful, but a special shout out has to go to the manager. He made sure everything was spot on, from helping us set up the decorations to personally checking in throughout the night to make sure we were happy.

One moment really stood out was when he arranged for a platter of vegetarian options for a couple of our guests, even though we hadn't requested it beforehand. It was such a thoughtful touch. Later in the evening, he brought out a surprise dessert plate with happy 40th on it.

Everyone had a brilliant time. We couldn't recommend it enough for a celebration. Thank you

I couldn't be happier with how my son's 21st birthday party turned out at the Pledwick.

The staff were amazing, so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The food was fantastic, and everything was beautifully set up. It was the perfect mix of fun and relaxed, which made the night really enjoyable for us and all our guests.

I organised a surprise 60th for my husband at the pub.

From the very start, the staff were so helpful and easy to work with. They guided me through everything, choosing the food and drink options to figuring out the best setup for the live band we brought in. I’m not the most organised person, and they made the whole process straight forward.

On the night, everything just fell into place. The atmosphere was buzzing, and the buffet was lovely with plenty to go around. All our guests commented on how great the venue was, and a few even said they’d consider it for their own celebrations.

It was a really memorable evening, and I can’t thank the team enough for making it so special. It was everything I had hoped for and then some.

We booked for a wake when Mum passed away.

Rich and his team did a great job. Nothing was too much trouble and he and his chef were more than happy to accommodate my requests for a custom made buffet. We wanted to put some warm food on the buffet and decided to do hot beef sandwiches, Chunky Chips and Steak & Ale Pie, as well as the usual selection of buffet sandwiches.

Rich kept us informed by email as we confirmed the arrangements and on the day the staff were really friendly and welcoming. They did every thing they could to ensure the day ran smoothly and our guests were catered for. They even accepted a couple of strange requests for drinks on the day.

The food was exceptional and all freshly made everyone commented on the quality especially the Steak & Ale pie! The venue was spacious and had a massive car park so there was no stress there. Overall the day was a really good day and people stayed a lot longer than we expected. I was surprised how reasonable the price was, given our customised menu requests.

We recently held my mum’s wake at the pub, and I honestly don’t think we could have chosen a better place.

It’s not something you plan for often, but the staff made the whole process easy. They were so respectful and kind from the start, which meant the world to us during such a tough time. The private area was perfect—intimate without feeling cramped—and the buffet they prepared was just right. There was plenty of food, and it was all fresh and beautifully presented.

The Pub is in a lovely little village, which made it feel peaceful and fitting for the occasion. It was also very easy to find, which made things simpler for guests traveling from further away. It was exactly the calm, cosy setting we needed to say goodbye to Mum, and we’re so grateful for how they handled everything.

I don’t usually write reviews as being self employed all my life and giving 100% to people I expect the same from other businesses.

Under unfortunate circumstances my family and I were looking for a place that could do our Mum’s wake. We wanted to give her the best send off we could. We looked into a few venues but we weren't happy with the buffet meals, so I decided to see if The Pledwick could do my Mum’s wake.

From walking into The Pledwick I was greeted by the lovely and friendly manageress. I asked her ‘could they do our mums wake’ and she replied that they were closed on that day but she would be happy to do our wake. We started with 40 guests and ended up asking if they could cater for 60 guests, and they did. The amount of compliments I got from our guests, I had to write this review.

The food and the service was exceptional and I am sure that I could not have found a better place in Wakefield to have had my Mum’s wake.
